Wonderful story about a man I did not know but paints a picture of the character of a nice person. I went to the wake with Ira yesterday to pay my respects to a man I did not know but to honor his life and legend.
Hi Eileen, my brother Brendan and I would frequent the Mcmanus Care in the 90s. I remember beautiful your red curly hair! What a great article about Jamo, written from the heart.
Oh, I bet that he did have some stories! One of the oldest bars in the largest city in the country! I have visited NYC several times from the Midwest but have not been in McManus. Went to McSorleys and a few others.
From your recollection of events, not only could Jamo ‘work’ the room, he was a living example of the Golden Rule, “ do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”
Beautiful story. He was clearly a lovely person
RIP, Jamo

Thanks so much! (Time has stomped all over the red hair, though. 😂)
A good man indeed... with a heart!
So sorry for your loss, Eileen. Jamo sounds like a wonderful human being and boss. Gone far too soon.
Thank you, Tom. He was a real character, and boy - did he have stories!

He's the same age as my brother, who, as I write this mid-afternoon on Friday, 6/26, is undergoing open heart surgery.
Being able to pry open minds is a vanishing skill. May he rest in peace.
Sending good thoughts to you and your brother. XX
😢
Hope you don't mind that I shared it on FB. Seems like a very relevant, and unknown, side of Jamo for the dance world...
Of course! It's one of my favorite memories of Jamo, instead of yelling, he helped me. (He was crazy and hilarious, but also kind.)
Sounds like Jamo was a pretty good boss! 🙏
He was. He'll be missed by many.
❤️
What a great guy! So sorry to hear about his death Eileen. I know you and all at McManus’s will miss him.
Great story Eileen - thanks for sharing, Jaymo was one in a million!
He really was. 😁
Jamo sounds like a man I’d like to have called a friend.
Pretty much everyone who met him, did. Thanks for reading!
A lovely story!!! What a great boss.

He was kind, and welcoming to all.
That’s a beautiful memory, Eileen. Wonderful tribute and sweet photo of you together.
Thanks, Steve. XX
