Thanks for the Laverne and Shirley memories. They were priceless! And their cast appearances over the years read like a bio of Hollywood!
Your “Onward, Christian Soldiers” comment brought me on a trip down memory lane to my high school days @ Sacred Heart H.S. in North Yonkers under the thumb of the good sisters of St. Agnes, who insisted on endless renditions of the militant hymn, armed to their whimples that made them appear to be an imperious six ft. tall, not to be trifled with or denied of their merciless insistence that we endlessly sing that hymn to a spiffy marching cadence. 😂
A couple of things: (1) Nothing wrong with a pickle sandwich... if we are talking about the same thing: a pickle, maybe w/ some mustard, wrapped in a cold cut and cheese. (2) I have a distinct memory of our Junior High's - as it was known then - graduation being in the church. We processed in alphabetically boy/girl, with the girls on the boys' arms (Jaime D. was on mine... score!). This may be an entirely hallucinatory memory. I do recall our doing some strange sh-t in junior high, stuff that would NEVER fly now, like watching "The Lottery"... with no warning. School systems would get sued for that now, but I digress.
Remember the pop song version of The Lord's Prayer? It was played in some other event(s) like maybe the "May Crowning," which the Church of Rome totally cribbed from the Pagans... I digress even more. (3) I'll second Mrs. Robinson's being worthy of this great country.
The other stuff will pass.
Thanks for LBB, Eileen - you make life better for your readers.
Entertaining per usual, Eileen! Nice to have a job that you like and that is constantly changing depending upon the characters you meet daily. Wonder if you’ll see Cardinal Spellman, Msgr. A.J. MaGillacutty and Donald Trump on their way home from Taylor Swift’s Wedding?
Thanks for your good cheer and reminder to have some fun, too, definitely needed the reminder. 🙂 Five things...The Brady Bunch, the Fonz, "Mikey--Mikey will eat it!," Einstein and Obama.
You had me at John Prine and Patti Smith! I was 15 that summer of ‘76 and I mainly remember seeing the tall ships in New York harbor on television from here in rural Illinois! Good times! Not feeling much like celebrating this shit show either but will try to have a little fun. I hope you and Mary have a fun day together and maybe get Lenny and Squiggy to help you haul the garbage! Peace out!
You are a marvel Eileen. I remember my only July 4th in the US - amongst the fireworks with you and Jane on the roof at Market Street -I was so happy to be there ❤️
Hi Eileen, great one again. Sorry we missed you at PMC. We enjoyed meeting your co-worker and having a drink. Until next time…
Shoot, I didn't know you were in town! Next time let me know -
It was such a random thing-have been wanting to stop by and this time, our schedule opened up so we took a chance. Yes, next time. 😊

Shoot, I wasn't sure if it was church or the gym and church is so much funnier!

Live this! Thank you for the smiles! Mary and you are fabulous! 😘
As are you! XX
Reading the opening line to that theme song has spawned a smile-worthy ear worm. Thanks!

Ah, what a wonderful memory! It seems we laughed constantly in those Chinatown days— I miss them, and you. XX
I understand the sentiment of tomorrow. Tiny correction. Hazepfeffer is made with hare. Using a rabbit would be a sin.
Thank you so much, I'll correct it! ( And this is why I should do a bit more research than simply googling 🙄)
Google does not give the best advice.😜
Laverne, Shirley, Mrs. Robinson, Tator tots... Some of the best😉
I second that💗
I third it...
